Applications for the 2008 Apprenticeship Program will be accepted during the month of September Monday through Thursday from 9am-3pm at the IMI Training Facility, 84 Myron Street in West Springfield The BAC Local 1 MA Apprentice Program is a 12-week pre-job training program. Students attend school full-time for three months. The application process begins in August each year, when advertisements are published in the local newspapers in our jurisdiction. Applications for apprenticeship can be obtained in person or by mail (if applicant lives an hour or so away-approx 60 mile radius) from the International Masonry Institute during the month of September. Applicants must be 18 years old. Tests and interviews are given during November. In December the class is selected. Classes begin at the International Masonry Institute Training Center in West Springfield in early January. The course is comprised of 480 hours of classroom and hands-on training. Apprentices attend school full-time during the months of January, February and March, completing the school part of the program in April.

Applicants for the apprentice program must first fill out an application in person at the Union Hall. Minimum requirements – Be a minimum age of 18 years old age at time of selection Show evidence of successful completion of one full year of high school algebra with a passing grade. Be at least a high school graduate or have a GED Provide a transcript for high school and post high school education and training Pay a $25.00 processing fee If you meet the requirements, you will be scheduled to take the NJATC apprenticeship aptitude test. If you obtain a qualifying score on the test, you will be scheduled for an oral interview.
