PROGRAM SUMMARY
The Building and Grounds Maintenance Program is a substantially separate program developed to increase the employability potential of developmentally challenged students in the district.
The program will provide realistic, functional academic, vocational, and behavioral support for students needing small group instruction and occupational life skills. Students are admitted through an interview process in order to evaluate appropriate placement.
The Building & Grounds Program provides students with a basic awareness and knowledge level in the ever changing building and maintenance industry. Each student receives instruction in personal and shop safety, tool usage, basic mathematics skill and measurement. Students are exposed to a cross section of hands on training in basic carpentry and repair, drywall finish, painting, basic electrical, ladder and staging safety and set-up. Reading, writing and math assignments, job hunting, resume writing, and interview techniques are integral components taught in the classroom setting.
