    Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational School is a fully accredited high school offering a full academic program and 15 technical programs to a culturally diverse student body of 1230, serving students from twelve communities: Chelsea, Malden, Melrose, North Reading, Reading, Revere, Saugus, Stoneham, Wakefield, Winchester, Winthrop and Woburn.   • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) 

     


    This is a general summary of benefits offered to NEMRVS eligible employees. The information contained herein is only a guideline.  It is not exhaustive, it is not a contract, and is subject to change. Specific current benefit information and/or questions should be addressed to Human Resources. This information generally applies to regular full time employees.

     

    Health Insurance: NEMRVS is part of the Massachusetts Group Insurance Commission (GIC).  By being part of this group, we have access to multiple medical plans.  Included in this array are Indemnity, PPO, POS, EPO, or HMO plans.  We strongly encourage you to thoroughly review the plan information so you choose a plan that best suits your medical needs. For more information regarding the GIC plans, please visit https://www.mass.gov/gic-health-insurance-products. Eligible Employees must opt to enroll within ten days of their hire date. New employee coverage begins on the first day of the month following their first date of employment.  (Example: If your first day of work is August 26, the first date of coverage would be September 1).  

     

    Dental Insurance: We offer Blue Cross Blue Shield for Dental Insurance.  You are eligible on the first of the month following your date of hire.  Our Dental Blue plan covers 100% preventative care in addition to $1,500 orthodontic lifetime benefit per member under the age of 19. Health Care & Dependent Care Reimbursement Accounts (Flexible Spending Account): Eligible employees may enroll in either or both reimbursement accounts.  Enrolling in an FSA lets you set aside money from your paycheck on a pretax basis to use for eligible out-of-pocket expenses. Employees can elect to have a maximum of $7,500 for dependent care and $3,400 for out of pocket medical expenses.  Please see our Human Resource office for a list of qualifying expenses.

     

    Life Insurance:All benefit eligible employees receive School District paid group term life insurance coverage equal to $10,000 through Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company.  

     

    Deferred Compensation/Tax Sheltered Annuity 403(b) Plan: Employees may elect to participate in tax-deferred 403(b) annuity programs as a supplemental means of employee retirement savings and planning. Funds may be contributed on a pre-tax basis through a variety of six authorized 403(b) vendors. This is a 100% employee funded benefit. A third party provider administers the plan.

     

    Employee Assistance Program: The School District provides an Employee Assistance Program or “EAP” which is an employer pre-paid benefit that provides confidential, short-term counseling and referral services to employees and their household members. This confidential service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week and it is FREE to you.

     

    Long-Term Disability Insurance: Long-term disability insurance (LTD) is an insurance policy that protects an employee from loss of income in the event that he or she is unable to work due to illness, injury, or accident. The waiting period is 90 calendar days. This free benefit pays a benefit of up to 60% of your monthly basic earnings. Worker’s Compensation Insurance: Employees are covered for on-the-job injuries through worker’s compensation insurance. Premiums for this coverage are paid by the School District. Payroll Direct Deposit: Employees are encouraged to have their paychecks conveniently deposited directly into checking and/or savings accounts at their bank.   We also have an onsite branch of Reading Co-Operative bank at the school. Retirement Systems: Federal law requires that nearly all employees participate in a retirement plan. Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational School does not participate in the Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) Part A (formerly known as Social Security). Therefore, most employees must contribute/participate in one of the following *plans: I. Massachusetts Teachers'

     

    Retirement System- In general, you are eligible to join the MTRS if you are employed as a teacher or administrator in a Massachusetts public school outside the City of Boston or in any charter school in Massachusetts and: §  you are covered by a contractual agreement regarding your employment;  §  you are employed on at least a half-time basis; §  you are certified by the Department of Education; and, §  your contractual agreement requires that you be certified by the Department of Education as a condition of your employment.MTRS determines final eligibility.  For new members enrolled after 7/1/2001, the contribution rate is 11%.     Massachusetts Retirement System- In general, you are eligible to join the State Retirement System if you are employed for more than ninety (90) days and work at least twenty (20) hour per week. If your membership began on or after January 1, 1979 and if your annual rate of regular compensation is under $30,000, you will contribute at 9%. If your annual rate of regular compensation is over $30,000, you will contribute at 9% plus an additional 2% on the compensation above $30,000.     Pet Insurance: NEMRVS collaborates with Nationwide to offer a discounted rate for your pets.  The plan can be adjusted to meet your pet’s needs.  The premiums will be paid through a payroll deduction. Registration for this is always open.  

     

    Supplemental Benefits with AFLAC: Aflac offers a wide range of additional benefits such as life insurance for you and your loved ones, disability plan, cancer plan and dental insurance plus much more.
