A person who has inspired you to be your best: Ms. Buggy has always inspired me to be my best by always challenging me in a way that forces me to grow as both a student and person.

National Assistant Principals Week will be celebrated Monday, April 6 through Friday, April 10. Assistant principals and deans play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of our school, fostering a positive and safe learning environment, and building strong connections with students, families, and staff. At Northeast, we recognize and appreciate the leadership, dedication, and commitment of our administrative team, who work tirelessly to support student success and strengthen our school community.

Dental Assisting Students Visit Head Start in Somerville

On Thursday, March 26, junior Dental Assisting students traveled to Somerville to participate in dental cavity screenings for children ages three to five enrolled in the Head Start program. In addition to assisting with screenings, students led engaging, interactive educational centers focused on cavities, proper at-home dental care, and the importance of healthy eating.

Plumbing Students Present After Dark Program at Revere High

On Friday, March 27, senior Plumbing student leaders and staff visited Revere High School to present to members of the sophomore class, highlighting opportunities available through our After Dark Plumbing Partnership. The program provides interested students with valuable hands-on training and helps build the skills needed for success in the field.

Cassidy Robertson Named Boston Herald Wrestling All-Scholastic

Sophomore Cassidy Robertson (Early Childhood, Woburn) has been recognized as a Boston Herald All-Scholastic following an outstanding 2025-2026 wrestling season. Cassidy, a captain, captured the Division 2 State Championship and earned CAC All-Star honors, highlighting a year of exceptional performance.

During the season, Cassidy earned a second-place finish at Vocational States and placed sixth at All-States, while also placing first or second in multiple tournaments. This recognition builds on an impressive freshman year (2024-2025), where Cassidy finished second at Vocational States, third at States, and was also named a CAC All-Star.

We look forward to Cassidy’s continued success and leadership on and off the mat.

Culinary Students Impress at Day on the Hill

On Monday, March 30, sophomore Culinary students attended and served at the Massachusetts State House in Boston as part of Day on the Hill. Students prepared and presented a menu of New England classics, including clam chowder, North Shore three-way roast beef sandwiches, lobster rolls, house-made potato chips, whoopie pies with marshmallow fluff, and Cape Cod tea. This experience provided students with the opportunity to showcase their skills in a professional setting while representing Northeast at a statewide event.

Northeast SRO Michael Pietrantonio Promoted to Sergeant

Congratulations to Northeast Metro Tech School Resource Officer Michael Pietrantonio, a Northeast alumnus (Class of 1999), on his promotion to Sergeant with the Wakefield Police Department.

After fourteen years of dedicated service as Northeast’s School Resource Officer, Sergeant Pietrantonio will be leaving as he transitions into this new role. During his time here, he has been a reliable and valued partner, supporting the safety and well-being of our students and staff.

We appreciate his years of service, collaboration, and commitment to our school community and wish him continued success in this next chapter.

Design and Visual Seniors Showcase Community Projects Work

Design and Visual Studio 12 seniors recently showcased their skill set through a range of projects completed as part of the Community Projects team. Students developed festive visuals to promote “Santa’s Spot” at Pine Banks in Malden, demonstrating their understanding of typography and color theory. Most recently, the Studio 12 group created signage, applying their creativity and design skills to produce materials that will be displayed at various community project sites, supporting local partnerships and initiatives.

Grade 9 CTE Shop Selection - Information and Timeline

Grade 9 students will complete Shop Selection from Monday, April 13 through Thursday, April 16. Families are asked to review the following information to ensure students are prepared to finalize their shop selection rankings.

The Selection Process
  • Signature Sheets: Students received Signature Sheets in their English classes this week and must rank their shop choices from 1 to 18, including our three new CTE areas: Biotechnology, Marketing, and Medical Assisting. Grades for each exploratory are included on the Signature Sheet. For the new shops, grades are based on the following exploratory areas: Biotechnology = STEM, Marketing = Business Technology, and Medical Assisting = Health Assisting.
  • Parental Approval: Signature Sheets must be signed by a parent/guardian and returned to Office C by Wednesday, April 8.
  • Final Entry: Students will enter their final rankings into Aspen during their scheduled time in the Career Center between Monday, April 13 and Thursday, April 16.
Placement Tie-Breakers
In the event of a tie for placement, the following criteria will be used:
  1. Average of all exploratory grades (excluding the three new shop grades)
  2. Academic grade point average
CTE Shop Placement
  • Placements will be available in Aspen by Friday, April 24, during April break.
  • Beginning Monday, April 27, Grade 9 students should arrive dressed for their assigned CTE shop (including boots, safety glasses, and shop uniform, if required).
  • Students placed in a shop choice beyond their third selection will meet with counselors in the Career Center, and families will be contacted to discuss options.

Senior Prom Tickets on Sale Beginning Wednesday, April 1, 2026

Time: 6:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
📍 Location: Danversport, 161 Elliott Street, Danvers, MA
🎟 Cost: $90 per ticket (Square, cash, or check made payable to Northeast Metro Tech Class of 2026)
Ticket Sales: Wednesday, April 1, through Friday, May 1 at 2:30 p.m.

Students must pick up a permission slip/event contract from Mr. Dicks in Office B201 outlining important information and expectations for students and their guests. No tickets will be sold without a signed form.

Important Reminders
➤ A signed event contract must be submitted to the student’s class advisor to attend.
➤ Tickets will not be sold at the door.
➤ Students must present their Northeast student ID for entry.
➤ Students should dress formally.
➤ Upon request, students may be asked to empty their pockets and have their belongings checked.
➤ Bags and backpacks are not permitted.
➤ No entry after 6:30 p.m. and no early dismissal before 9:00 p.m. unless preapproved by a dean.
➤ All school rules apply, as outlined in the Student Handbook.
➤ Thursday is a school day; students are expected to attend school in order to attend the event.
➤ We ask that all parents/guardians plan to pick up their students promptly at the end of the event. Please plan to arrive at Danversport before 9:30 p.m.

Multicultural Celebration Spirit Weeks - April 6 - 17, 2026

Spirit Weeks are back as we lead up to Multicultural Night on Wednesday, April 15. The two-week format allows all students to participate while in academics and follow the dress code while in shops. All students are encouraged to showcase their Northeast Knights pride by participating. See the schedules below for the first week's themes for Grades 10 and 12 and the second week's themes for Grades 9 and 11.

We encourage everyone to be creative, have fun, and show their school spirit. Please remember that all attire must be school-appropriate.

2 Hour Delay - Wednesday, April 8, 2026

Wednesday, April 8, is a scheduled 2-hour delay for professional development. Buses will arrive two hours later than their regular arrival time. The academic blocks for the day will be C, D, A, and B.

Multicultural Night - Wednesday, April 15, 2026

Northeast students and families are invited to join us for the fourth annual Multicultural Night on Wednesday, April 15, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Northeast cafeteria. The evening will feature food, music, traditional garments, live performances, artifacts, and more as we come together to celebrate the rich diversity of our school community.

Trimester 3 Progress Reports

Progress reports for Trimester 3 will be posted in Aspen on the following dates:
  • Grade 12: Friday, April 17 (Seniors at risk of failure for the year will be required to engage in intervention support)
  • Grades 9-11: Friday, May 1
Families are encouraged to have frequent conversations about their student's learning and progress. Please do not hesitate to contact your student’s teacher(s), school counselor, or dean with questions or concerns. As a reminder, students and families should log in to Aspen daily to monitor student attendance and grades. After-School Academic Support

After-school academic support is offered for all subjects. Students can get the extra help they need to succeed, whether it’s for a challenging class, test preparation, or Early College courses.

  • Sessions will be held Tuesday through Thursday in the Library from 2:35 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Students can take the 3:30 buses home after the session.
Students are encouraged to take advantage of this great opportunity to enhance their learning.
 

Massachusetts Competency Determination Requirement

In addition to local graduation requirements, students must meet the Massachusetts Competency Determination (CD) requirement, as outlined in 603 CMR 30.00, as a condition of high school graduation. Northeast Metro Tech’s Competency Determination Policy may be viewed in this document. Families with questions are encouraged to contact the school for additional information.
 
Food services

Student Meals - Breakfast and Lunch

All students receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each school day. Additional meals and individual items may be purchased with cash, check, or through a MySchoolBucks account. Instructions for adding funds to a student’s meal account are available in this document. Students may not carry a negative balance; sufficient funds must be available at the time of purchase.

Cell Phone Policy

Students are expected to engage in learning opportunities in each class/shop throughout the school day. Cell phones and smartwatches distract students from participating in lessons, completing assignments, contributing to class discussions, and collaborating with teachers and classmates. Unsanctioned cell phone/smartwatch use during instructional time is prohibited. All learning spaces, including classrooms and shop areas, are equipped with cell phone holders, where students must place their silenced devices upon arrival. Violations, including unauthorized photographing or video recording, may result in disciplinary action. Students are permitted to use their devices during lunch.

Emergency calls by students should be made in an administrative office, and families should contact Office A at (781) 246-0810 ext. 1644 for individual student needs. Headphones/earbuds may be used for educational purposes only; otherwise, students should remove them. Bluetooth speakers are not allowed in the building.
 
Ringer's Auto School

Driver's Education at Northeast

Ringer's Auto School is offering driver’s education at NEMT. Sessions run in April/May on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30-5:30 p.m. Students will be released in time for the late bus, which is available for NEMT students only. The minimum age is 15 years 9 months. Click here for registration and payment information.
 

Student Parking for Juniors - Gold Weeks Only

As parking spaces have become available due to seniors being on Co-op, a limited number of spots will be open to Grade 11 students for Gold Weeks only. Beginning Sunday, December 14 at 12:00 p.m. (noon), interested juniors may complete the Student Parking Application Form to be added to a waitlist. Students in good standing, as approved by their dean, will be contacted in the order that the form was completed to purchase a parking sticker for $25 in the Business Office.

Please note: The form must be completed using the student's Northeast email account, and students will be required to upload a copy of their valid Massachusetts driver’s license and vehicle registration.

Once juniors receive a parking sticker, they may begin parking in the designated student parking areas during Gold Weeks only. As additional spaces become available, Grade 11 students will be contacted in the order the form was submitted. We aim to make as many spaces available to students as possible.

Parking spaces reserved for students are located in sections A and A2 on this image. All student vehicles parked on Northeast Metro Tech property must have a parking sticker properly displayed (affixed to the windshield above the inspection sticker on the passenger side). Attention Student Drivers

The parking lot across from Landrigan Field (formerly J Lot) is exclusively for Wakefield Memorial High School students. Vehicles parked in this lot without a WMHS hanging placard are subject to towing per the Town of Wakefield.

In the Landrigan Field parking area, only marked spaces may be used. Parking in front of the field gate, within crosswalks, in marked fire lanes, or blocking entrances and exits are subject to ticketing or possible towing.

Parking on Hemlock Road, Farm Street, and surrounding neighborhood streets is allowed unless posted otherwise. Please be respectful by not blocking or partially blocking residential driveways.

All drivers are reminded to operate vehicles safely and remain under 15 mph while on school property.

Bus routes and schedules are available on the NEMT website under the Parents & Students tab. Students should arrive at their bus stop 10-15 minutes before the scheduled pickup time.

Parent Drop-off & Pick-up

Mornings can be challenging, with heavy traffic on Farm Street, Hemlock Road, and nearby streets. Students and families are encouraged to leave home early enough for students to be in their homeroom before 7:45 a.m. For everyone’s safety and to keep traffic moving, please pull forward to the triple doors by the gymnasium for drop-off and pick-up.
 

Eastern Bus Company - Drivers Needed

Eastern Bus Company is hiring bus drivers at a starting rate of $34.25 per hour with a guaranteed 25 hours per week (2.5 hours in the morning and 2.5 hours in the afternoon). A CDL B with a school bus endorsement is required. If you don’t have one, Eastern Bus Company offers training in Billerica and will assist with testing in exchange for a two-year contract.

Drivers can also earn extra with charters at a rate of $24.00 per hour, with 6 hours guaranteed during the week and 8 hours on the weekend.

Aspen Student & Parent Portal Information

Families are encouraged to have frequent conversations about their student's growth and development to support their ongoing success. To guide these conversations and monitor student attendance and grades, students and families should log in to Aspen regularly. Students and parents/guardians have individual accounts with access to different resources, so parents should not share their accounts with their student. Students should click the "Sign in with Google" button to access their accounts, while parents should use their assigned username and password.

FAFSA Now Available for 2026-27 College and Career Schools Applicants

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now open for students planning to attend colleges and career schools during the 2026-27 academic year. Students can complete the application at fafsa.gov, which is used by most colleges to determine financial aid eligibility.

Students and families seeking assistance may join MEFA’s free virtual FAFSA Festivals, offered now through February. Participants can log in at any point during the two-hour sessions and receive one-on-one support in a breakout room from a financial aid expert. Registration is required.

Families can access a library of videos and handouts, available in English and Spanish, featuring easy-to-use, evidence-based strategies that promote lasting, positive change.
