Our school year is off to an excellent start! It has been exciting to officially welcome students and staff into our new Northeast and see the building come to life. Our first two days have gone very well, and we look forward to a great year ahead.

During their first professional development days of the school year, faculty and staff participated in a scavenger hunt using Goosechase to explore our new building. Teams traveled throughout the school, visited different spaces, and took selfies along the way. It was a fun way to become familiar with the building and kick off the new school year together. |
On Monday, August 31, Northeast junior Jack Cuddy (Saugus, Electrical) recorded a hole-in-one on the 9th hole at Stoneham Oaks during Northeast’s match against Saugus. Congratulations, Jack, on this incredible accomplishment. |
Bus routes and schedules are available on the NEMT website by selecting Transportation under the Parents & Students tab. Students are encouraged to arrive at their designated bus stop 10–15 minutes before the scheduled pickup time.

During the first weeks of school, teachers will advise students of any specific supplies needed for their courses. Students should arrive to class prepared with basic supplies (e.g., pencils, pens, highlighters, and notebooks) based on their individual learning preferences. |

As we begin our first year in our new school building, we ask for everyone’s help in keeping our learning spaces clean and well maintained. Students may bring water into the building; however, outside beverages, including coffee and energy drinks, are not permitted when arriving at school in the morning. Please finish or dispose of all other outside beverages before entering. We appreciate the cooperation of students and families in helping us take care of our new school. |
Families visiting, dropping off, or picking up students should use the new Farm Street entrance, located approximately one-half mile beyond the former entrance toward the Saugus/Wakefield line. This entrance will be used by buses, families, visitors, and staff to access the new building and Staff Parking Lot.
Only student drivers accessing the Student Parking Lot (see image) should use the former entrance by entering Hemlock Road near Wakefield High School.
Students and families are encouraged to leave home early to allow additional time for traffic on Farm Street and surrounding roads, particularly during the opening days of school. We appreciate everyone's patience as we become familiar with new traffic patterns and routines.

Enter at the new Farm Street entrance.
Student drop-off (see image) will take place at the Main Entrance area of the building (see image). Drivers should enter using the second driveway on the left, pull forward, drop off promptly, and continue around the traffic pattern to exit the Staff Parking Lot. When exiting, drivers should turn right toward the new Farm Street entrance. Students should be prepared to exit the vehicle immediately upon reaching the Main Entrance area to help keep traffic moving.
Only buses may continue straight to the public entrance loop (near the Cosmetology, Culinary, NE School Store, and Reading Cooperative Bank entrance). Buses will enter the loop and drop off students at Door 26. After dropping off, buses will exit the loop, turn right, and proceed toward the new Farm Street entrance to exit campus.
Faculty and staff should enter the Staff Parking Lot using the first driveway on the left from the new Farm Street entrance. This is a faculty and staff entrance only in the morning.

Student pick-up (see image) will take place in the Staff Parking Lot. Drivers should enter the lot using the first driveway on the left, take an immediate right turn, and proceed into the parking rows to stage in the designated lanes (labeled A, B, and C). Drivers should remain on the right side of the lane while waiting for their student, allowing vehicles to pass on the left to exit the lot. Drivers will exit the Staff Parking Lot by turning right toward the new Farm Street entrance.
Buses will stage on Hemlock Road along the side of the building, facing toward the new Farm Street entrance, which they will use to exit campus.

For safety reasons, students and visitors are not permitted to ride or bring e-bikes or e-scooters onto school grounds. With bus and vehicle traffic, e-bikes and e-scooters present additional safety concerns. We appreciate everyone's cooperation in helping us maintain a safe campus. |

In the first week of school, students will be provided a paper copy of the 2026-2027 Parent Sign-Off Form. This form covers two important acknowledgments:

Google Workspace for Education - Grants permission for your student to use school-provided Google accounts (Gmail, Docs, Classroom, etc.) that support assignments, communication, and digital skills.

Student Handbook - Confirms that you have reviewed the NEMT Student Handbook, available on the NEMT website under the Parents & Students tab, and understand the policies and expectations it contains.
It is essential that a parent/guardian signature is provided so that students may fully access the school’s digital tools and be guided by the policies outlined in the handbook.

Publication Opt-Out
FERPA allows NEMT to release certain information about students with parent/guardian consent provided that annual notification has been given and the school does not have on file written denial to release this directory information. Directory information is generally not considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if released. The primary purpose of directory information is to allow NEMT to include information from students’ education records in certain school publications. Examples include:
- A playbill, showing a student’s role in a drama production;
- The annual yearbook;
- Honor Roll or other recognition lists;
- Graduation programs; and
- Sports activity sheets, such as for football, showing weight and height of team members.
Complete the form below only if you would like to opt your student out of publications. Please know that this will impact your student's inclusion (name and photo) in school publications such as the yearbook.
Military Directory Opt-Out
Federal law requires local education agencies (LEAs) receiving assistance under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, as amended (ESEA), to provide military recruiters, upon request, with the following information - names, addresses and telephone listings - unless parents/guardians have advised the LEA that they do not want their student’s information disclosed without their prior written consent. NEMT identifies the following as directory information:
- A student’s name;
- Address;
- Telephone listing;
- Date and place of birth;
- Major field of study;
- Dates of attendance;
- Class;
- Degrees;
- Honors and awards; and
- Post-high school plans.

Shop stores are open for the purchase of dress code clothing. During shop weeks, students are expected to follow the dress code specific to their career technical program to ensure safety and fully participate in learning experiences. Each shop has its own unique online store, with orders being delivered to each family's home.

Grade 9 Exploratory Dress:
- Two Northeast t-shirts provided at Freshman Orientation
- Clear safety goggles - one pair provided in the first shop
- Safety boots and pants/trousers - as specified

As a reminder, Northeast students are expected to engage in summer reading by completing one of the books from the grade-level lists below. The program is designed to help students maintain and strengthen their literacy skills while fostering a lifelong appreciation for reading. Summer reading books were distributed to students before summer break.
In addition to reading, all students must prepare to complete a writing assignment based on a choice of the provided writing prompts during the first few weeks of the 2026-2027 school year. A sample writing rubric and graphic organizers are available to help students brainstorm and organize their ideas.

Students enrolled in an AP English course were provided with a separate summer reading selection and assignment by their teacher. They should plan to bring their completed assignments to class as directed.

Chromebooks are an essential part of the educational experience at Northeast Metro Tech and must be properly cared for. Fees will be assessed for damaged devices. Chromebooks are collected each summer for updates and returned to students for continued use throughout their years at NEMT.

Join us on Wednesday, September 16, at 6:00 p.m. for Grade 9 Parent Night. The presentation will provide families with important information to support student success, including counseling services, scheduling, courses and credits, the Aspen Parent Portal, and available interventions. Families will also learn about the CTE Exploratory program, student expectations, and resources to support student well-being. Parent/guardian involvement plays an important role in student success, and we look forward to partnering with families throughout the school year. |

Students are expected to engage in learning opportunities in each class/shop throughout the school day. Cell phones, smart watches, and smart glasses distract students from participating in lessons, completing assignments, contributing to class discussions, and collaborating with teachers and classmates. Unsanctioned use of personal electronic devices during instructional time is prohibited. All learning spaces, including classrooms and shop areas, are equipped with cell phone holders, where students must place their silenced devices upon arrival. Violations, including unauthorized photographing or video recording, may result in disciplinary action. Students are permitted to use their devices during lunch.
Emergency calls by students should be made in an administrative office, and families should contact the Main Office at (781) 246-0810 for individual student needs. Headphones/earbuds may be used for educational purposes only; otherwise, students should remove them. Bluetooth speakers are not allowed in the building.

The 2026-2027 school calendar is available on the NEMT website. Families can access the calendar by selecting the calendar icon or by selecting View Full Calendar under Upcoming Events. From the full calendar page, families can also select Subscribe to add the Northeast Master Calendar to their personal calendar.

All students receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each school day. Additional meals and individual items may be purchased with cash, check, or through a LINQ Connect account. Instructions for adding funds to a student’s meal account through the LINQ Connect app, along with frequently asked questions, are available in this document. Students may not carry a negative balance; sufficient funds must be available at the time of purchase.

Ringer's Auto School is offering driver’s education at NEMT. Sessions run throughout the year on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30-5:30 p.m. Students will be released in time for the late bus, which is available for NEMT students only. The minimum age is 15 years 9 months. Click here for registration and payment information. |

Student parking registration opened for members of the Senior Class on Wednesday, August 12. Grade 12 students who complete the Student Parking Application Form (using their Northeast email account) will be added to a registration list. Students in good standing, as approved by their dean, will be contacted in the order the form was submitted to purchase a parking sticker. We aim to make as many spaces available to students as possible.
Please note: The form must be completed using the student's Northeast email account. Students will be required to enter their driver’s license number, vehicle information (make, model, color, and year), and license plate number, and upload a copy of their valid Massachusetts driver’s license and vehicle registration.
Parking spaces reserved for students are located in the Student Parking Lot (see image). This is the same lot used last year. Access the lot by entering Hemlock Road near Wakefield High School and following the same route previously used to access the former Northeast building. The Student Parking Lot will be on your left, just past Landrigan Field.
All student vehicles parked on Northeast Metro Tech property must have a parking sticker properly displayed (affixed to the windshield above the inspection sticker on the passenger side). Detailed student parking information and expectations can be found by viewing this document.

The parking lot across from Landrigan Field (formerly J Lot) is exclusively for Wakefield Memorial High School students. Vehicles parked in this lot without a WMHS hanging placard are subject to towing per the Town of Wakefield.
In the Landrigan Field parking area, only marked spaces may be used. Parking in front of the field gate, within crosswalks, in marked fire lanes, or blocking entrances and exits are subject to ticketing or possible towing.
Parking on Hemlock Road, Farm Street, and surrounding neighborhood streets is allowed unless posted otherwise. Please be respectful by not blocking or partially blocking residential driveways.
All drivers are reminded to operate vehicles safely and remain under 15 mph while on school property.

Eastern Bus Company is hiring bus drivers at a starting rate of $35.25 per hour with a guaranteed 25 hours per week (2.5 hours in the morning and 2.5 hours in the afternoon). A CDL B with a school bus endorsement is required. If you don’t have one, Eastern Bus Company offers training in Billerica and will assist with testing in exchange for a two-year contract.
Drivers can also earn extra with charters at a rate of $24.00 per hour, with 6 hours guaranteed during the week and 8 hours on the weekend.

Families are encouraged to have frequent conversations about their student's growth and development to support their ongoing success. To guide these conversations and monitor student attendance and grades, students and families should log in to Aspen regularly. Students and parents/guardians have individual accounts with access to different resources, so parents should not share their accounts with their student. Students should click the "Sign in with Google" button to access their accounts, while parents should use their assigned username and password.
