Favorite class: My favorite class is my Auto Tech Related. I enjoy being in a class with my friends from shop, and being taught by my favorite teachers. I enjoy learning how all the parts work together, and how it applies to what I work on in shop. I’ve noticed how many of the things I’ve learned about have helped me several times in real world situations, not just in shop.
One skill/lesson you’ve learned at Northeast that you’ll take with you: One lesson I’ve learned several times is integrity. I’ve learned that my actions when no one is watching are just as important (maybe even more) than when eyes are on me. It may be working your hardest, or doing a good deed that goes unnoticed, all of your actions will have rewards or consequences.
A person who has inspired you to be your best: All of my shop teachers have helped me and inspired me in their own way, however Mr. Flanagan has inspired me immensely. He immediately took me in as one of his own students when I switched into Auto Tech, allowing me to feel welcome and proud, inspiring me to be the very best I can be.

Plans after graduation: I plan on staying with the industry I’ve gotten into through Co-op. Working on fixing and installing radio communications equipment for police, fire, and other public safety departments.

On Friday, September 11, junior Luccia Kaloyanides (Plumbing, Reading) performed “God Bless America” at the Boston College football game against Rutgers. The annual Red Bandanna Game honors the memory of Welles Crowther, a hero during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Luccia also had a custom-painted jean jacket made in his honor and presented it to his mother following the game. Way to go, Luccia. |
Northeast's new Medical Assisting program welcomed its first Exploratory students this week. The program features state-of-the-art simulation manikins that provide students with hands-on opportunities to practice essential patient-care skills. During Medical Assisting Exploratory, Grade 9 students will learn about a variety of healthcare fields, including orthopedics, pediatrics, and pharmacology. We are excited to offer this new program and expand healthcare career opportunities for our students. |
This week, Grade 9 Auto Body Exploratory students were the first to use our brand-new spray booth. Students were excited to gain hands-on experience with the new equipment in our state-of-the-art collision repair facility. |
This week, Drafting & Design Exploratory students completed a fun lesson on structural integrity. Students were challenged to build “scaffolding” that represented a building. Once completed, each structure was tested by placing a small construction worker figure at the very top. The winning team built an impressive structure that reached 51 inches. |

The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has launched the MCAS Family Portal, which allows families to view their student’s MCAS results online. Please see the email sent earlier this week for information on how to access the portal and locate your student’s MCAS registration code in Aspen.

Northeast is committed to fostering a positive school culture, supporting student well-being, and helping students develop the social-emotional and employability skills they need to succeed in school, the real world, and their future careers.
As part of this work, Northeast utilizes a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to ensure that every student receives appropriate support based on their individual strengths and needs. At Tier 1, all students receive instruction in social-emotional learning (SEL) aligned with the five CASEL competencies: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making, as well as essential employability skills.
During an upcoming first block class, students will complete a brief (5-10 minute) Schoolwide SEL & Employability Skills Assessment. The assessment will help identify student strengths, measure progress, and determine areas where additional instruction or targeted supports may be helpful. Our goal is to prepare every student for success in school, postsecondary education, the workforce, and life beyond high school.
Assessment Dates:
- Wednesday, September 30: Grades 10 and 12
- Wednesday, October 7: Grades 9 and 11

Cost: The cost for the PSAT is $18 (nonrefundable).
Sign-up Information: Grade 11 students who wish to take the PSAT must sign up using their Northeast email account by Friday, October 2 through this link. After completing the online registration, payment should be submitted to the Business Office on the fourth floor.

Students must pick up a permission slip/event contract during lunches beginning September 21 outlining important information and expectations for students. No tickets will be sold without a signed form.
Important Reminders:
➤ A signed event contract must be submitted to Student Council Co-Advisors Ms. Van Magness or Mr. Fitzgerald to attend.
➤ Tickets will not be sold at the door.
➤ Students must present their Northeast student ID for entry.
➤ Students should dress to impress.
➤ Upon request, students may be asked to empty their pockets and have their belongings checked.
➤ Bags and backpacks are not permitted.
➤ No entry after 6:30 p.m. and no early dismissal before 7:30 p.m. unless preapproved by a dean.
➤ All school rules apply, as outlined in the Student Handbook.
➤ Friday, October 9 is a school day; students are expected to attend school in order to attend the event.
➤ We ask that all parents/caregivers plan to pick up their students promptly at the end of the event. Please plan to arrive at Northeast just before 8:00 p.m.

During the first weeks of school, teachers will advise students of any specific supplies needed for their courses. Students should arrive to class prepared with basic supplies (e.g., pencils, pens, highlighters, and notebooks) based on their individual learning preferences. |

As we begin our first year in our new school building, we ask for everyone’s help in keeping our learning spaces clean and well maintained. Students may bring water into the building; however, outside beverages, including coffee and energy drinks, are not permitted when arriving at school in the morning. Please finish or dispose of all other outside beverages before entering. We appreciate the cooperation of students and families in helping us take care of our new school. |
Families visiting, dropping off, or picking up students should use the new Farm Street entrance, located approximately one-half mile beyond the former entrance toward the Saugus/Wakefield line. This entrance will be used by buses, families, visitors, and staff to access the new building and Staff Parking Lot.
Only student drivers accessing the Student Parking Lot (see image) should use the former entrance by entering Hemlock Road near Wakefield High School.
Students and families are encouraged to leave home early to allow additional time for traffic on Farm Street and surrounding roads, particularly during the opening days of school. We appreciate everyone's patience as we become familiar with new traffic patterns and routines.

Enter at the new Farm Street entrance.
Student drop-off (see image) will take place at the Main Entrance area of the building (see image). Drivers should enter using the second driveway on the left, pull forward, drop off promptly, and continue around the traffic pattern to exit the Staff Parking Lot. When exiting, drivers should turn right toward the new Farm Street entrance. Students should be prepared to exit the vehicle immediately upon reaching the Main Entrance area to help keep traffic moving.
Only buses may continue straight to the public entrance loop (near the Cosmetology, Culinary, NE School Store, and Reading Cooperative Bank entrance). Buses will enter the loop and drop off students at Door 26. After dropping off, buses will exit the loop, turn right, and proceed toward the new Farm Street entrance to exit campus.
Faculty and staff should enter the Staff Parking Lot using the first driveway on the left from the new Farm Street entrance. This is a faculty and staff entrance only in the morning.

Student pick-up (see image) will take place in the Staff Parking Lot. Drivers should enter the lot using the first driveway on the left, take an immediate right turn, and proceed into the parking rows to stage in the designated lanes (labeled A, B, and C). Drivers should remain on the right side of the lane while waiting for their student, allowing vehicles to pass on the left to exit the lot. Drivers will exit the Staff Parking Lot by turning right toward the new Farm Street entrance.
Buses will stage on Hemlock Road along the side of the building, facing toward the new Farm Street entrance, which they will use to exit campus.

In the first week of school, students will be provided a paper copy of the 2026-2027 Parent Sign-Off Form. This form covers two important acknowledgments:

Google Workspace for Education - Grants permission for your student to use school-provided Google accounts (Gmail, Docs, Classroom, etc.) that support assignments, communication, and digital skills.

Student Handbook - Confirms that you have reviewed the NEMT Student Handbook, available on the NEMT website under the Parents & Students tab, and understand the policies and expectations it contains.
It is essential that a parent/guardian signature is provided so that students may fully access the school’s digital tools and be guided by the policies outlined in the handbook.

Publication Opt-Out
FERPA allows NEMT to release certain information about students with parent/guardian consent provided that annual notification has been given and the school does not have on file written denial to release this directory information. Directory information is generally not considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if released. The primary purpose of directory information is to allow NEMT to include information from students’ education records in certain school publications. Examples include:
- A playbill, showing a student’s role in a drama production;
- The annual yearbook;
- Honor Roll or other recognition lists;
- Graduation programs; and
- Sports activity sheets, such as for football, showing weight and height of team members.
Complete the form below only if you would like to opt your student out of publications. Please know that this will impact your student's inclusion (name and photo) in school publications such as the yearbook.
Military Directory Opt-Out
Federal law requires local education agencies (LEAs) receiving assistance under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, as amended (ESEA), to provide military recruiters, upon request, with the following information - names, addresses and telephone listings - unless parents/guardians have advised the LEA that they do not want their student’s information disclosed without their prior written consent. NEMT identifies the following as directory information:
- A student’s name;
- Address;
- Telephone listing;
- Date and place of birth;
- Major field of study;
- Dates of attendance;
- Class;
- Degrees;
- Honors and awards; and
- Post-high school plans.

Shop stores are open for the purchase of dress code clothing. During shop weeks, students are expected to follow the dress code specific to their career technical program to ensure safety and fully participate in learning experiences. Each shop has its own unique online store, with orders being delivered to each family's home.

Students are expected to engage in learning opportunities in each class/shop throughout the school day. Cell phones, smart watches, and smart glasses distract students from participating in lessons, completing assignments, contributing to class discussions, and collaborating with teachers and classmates. Unsanctioned use of personal electronic devices during instructional time is prohibited. All learning spaces, including classrooms and shop areas, are equipped with cell phone holders, where students must place their silenced devices upon arrival. Violations, including unauthorized photographing or video recording, may result in disciplinary action. Students are permitted to use their devices during lunch.
Emergency calls by students should be made in an administrative office, and families should contact the Main Office at (781) 246-0810 for individual student needs. Headphones/earbuds may be used for educational purposes only; otherwise, students should remove them. Bluetooth speakers are not allowed in the building.

The 2026-2027 school calendar is available on the NEMT website. Families can access the calendar by selecting the calendar icon or by selecting View Full Calendar under Upcoming Events. From the full calendar page, families can also select Subscribe to add the Northeast Master Calendar to their personal calendar.

All students receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each school day. Additional meals and individual items may be purchased with cash, check, or through a LINQ Connect account. Instructions for adding funds to a student’s meal account through the LINQ Connect app, along with frequently asked questions, are available in this document. Students may not carry a negative balance; sufficient funds must be available at the time of purchase.

Ringer's Auto School is offering driver’s education at NEMT. Sessions run throughout the year on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30-5:30 p.m. Students will be released in time for the late bus, which is available for NEMT students only. Student parking registration opened for members of the Senior Class on Wednesday, August 12. Grade 12 students who complete the Student Parking Application Form (using their Northeast email account) will be added to a registration list. Students in good standing, as approved by their dean, will be contacted in the order the form was submitted to purchase a parking sticker. We aim to make as many spaces available to students as possible.
Please note: The form must be completed using the student's Northeast email account. Students will be required to enter their driver’s license number, vehicle information (make, model, color, and year), and license plate number, and upload a copy of their valid Massachusetts driver’s license and vehicle registration.
Parking spaces reserved for students are located in the Student Parking Lot (see image). This is the same lot used last year. Access the lot by entering Hemlock Road near Wakefield High School and following the same route previously used to access the former Northeast building. The Student Parking Lot will be on your left, just past Landrigan Field.
All student vehicles parked on Northeast Metro Tech property must have a parking sticker properly displayed (affixed to the windshield above the inspection sticker on the passenger side). Detailed student parking information and expectations can be found by viewing this document.

The parking lot across from Landrigan Field (formerly J Lot) is exclusively for Wakefield Memorial High School students. Vehicles parked in this lot without a WMHS hanging placard are subject to towing per the Town of Wakefield.
In the Landrigan Field parking area, only marked spaces may be used. Parking in front of the field gate, within crosswalks, in marked fire lanes, or blocking entrances and exits are subject to ticketing or possible towing.
Parking on Hemlock Road, Farm Street, and surrounding neighborhood streets is allowed unless posted otherwise. Please be respectful by not blocking or partially blocking residential driveways.
All drivers are reminded to operate vehicles safely and remain under 15 mph while on school property.

Eastern Bus Company is hiring bus drivers at a starting rate of $35.25 per hour with a guaranteed 25 hours per week (2.5 hours in the morning and 2.5 hours in the afternoon). A CDL B with a school bus endorsement is required. If you don’t have one, Eastern Bus Company offers training in Billerica and will assist with testing in exchange for a two-year contract.
Drivers can also earn extra with charters at a rate of $24.00 per hour, with 6 hours guaranteed during the week and 8 hours on the weekend.

Families are encouraged to have frequent conversations about their student's growth and development to support their ongoing success. To guide these conversations and monitor student attendance and grades, students and families should log in to Aspen regularly. Students and parents/guardians have individual accounts with access to different resources, so parents should not share their accounts with their student. Students should click the "Sign in with Google" button to access their accounts, while parents should use their assigned username and password.
