CTE Shop: Culinary
Favorite class: My favorite class is my Related course for Culinary. I love how we are able to learn the nitty gritty of culinary. There is much more that comes with the trade than just cooking and baking. In my Related class I learn what is beyond the basics.
One skill/lesson you’ve learned at Northeast that you’ll take with you: The most important thing that I have learned throughout my time at Northeast is on how to work in a team. In the kitchen you are surrounded by people and when it comes to working with hot trays, it is important to have great communication within your team in order to prevent difficulties and to execute the job that needs to be done. Being able to work in a group/team has made me more open to communicating and collaborating with individuals who I might not know.
A person who has inspired you to be your best: My dad is the person who inspires me to be my best. He has taught me to take things one day at a time instead of getting overwhelmed by the big picture. He helps me stay grounded and focus on the present. He is someone I can always count on when I need help, and he has shown me how important it is to be reliable and dependable. These are qualities he has taught me that I believe are important not only for being a good person, but also for being successful in life.
Favorite quote: “As long as I know the shape of my soul, I'll be alright.” - Jake the Dog, Adventure Time
Plans after graduation: After high school, I would like to pursue a career in baking. I hope to be admitted to Johnson and Wales University in the baking and pastry arts program, where I will continue to develop my culinary skills. At the time I plan on working at a bakery to expand my knowledge on the baking business.

HVAC students are working on a window heat pump project focused on reading wiring diagrams and understanding electrical controls. By removing the electronic control boards and thermostat, students are learning to rewire the unit using a traditional thermostat and relays. This project allows students to develop their skills in interpreting wiring diagrams, identifying electrical components, and understanding how heating and cooling systems are controlled.
Pictured below is junior Samuel Gentile (HVAC, Melrose) working on the project.

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) conducts Targeted and Focused Monitoring (TFM) reviews of each district’s and charter school’s English Learner Education (ELE) program every six years to monitor compliance with federal and state English learner education laws and regulations. Areas of review include English learners’ student assessments, identification of English learners, what programs English learners are placed in, parent and community involvement, curriculum and instruction, student support services, licensure requirements for faculty, staff and administration, ELE program plans, and evaluation and recordkeeping.
DESE welcomes parents, guardians, and other individuals to share information, questions, or concerns related to their experience with the district with the TFM Chairperson listed below.
- District: Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational Tech
- Date(s) of Review: 9/22/2026
- TFM Chairperson: Sibel Hughes
- TFM Chairperson’s Email: sibel.hughes@mass.gov
Within approximately 60 business days of the onsite visit, the review chairperson will provide the district with a report with information about areas in which the district meets or exceeds regulatory requirements and areas in which the district requires assistance to correct or improve practices. The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Office of Public School Monitoring (PSM) will conduct an Integrated Monitoring Review of Northeast Metro Tech during the week of December 14, 2026. Each school district, charter school, vocational school, and virtual school undergoes an Integrated Monitoring Review every three years. The areas addressed during an Integrated Monitoring Review are organized into two groups, known as Group A Universal Standards and Group B Universal Standards.
Northeast Metro Tech will be undergoing a Group A monitoring review, which focuses on special education student identification and special education eligibility timelines; Individualized Education Program (IEP) development; programming and support services; procedural requirements for suspensions and equal opportunity.
The process includes interviews with district staff and administrators, a review of student records, policies and procedures, and school building visits. The process may also include parent/caregiver, student and teacher focus group meetings to gather additional information. Interpretation will be provided, if needed.
The Department will also send a parent survey, in multiple languages and formats as needed, to parents/guardians of special education students to gather key information on the special education processes and procedures.
Parents/guardians and other stakeholders may reach Moses Nduati to request a telephone interview at moses.m.nduati@mass.gov. If anyone requires an accommodation, such as translation, to participate in an interview, the Department will make the necessary arrangements.

All learning spaces, including classrooms and shop areas, are equipped with cell phone holders, where students must place their silenced devices upon arrival. Violations, including unauthorized photographing or video recording, may result in disciplinary action. Students are permitted to use their devices during lunch.

Student parking registration opened for members of the Senior Class on Wednesday, August 12. Grade 12 students who complete the Student Parking Application Form (using their Northeast email account) will be added to a registration list. Students in good standing, as approved by their dean, will be contacted in the order the form was submitted to purchase a parking sticker. We aim to make as many spaces available to students as possible.
Please note: The form must be completed using the student's Northeast email account. Students will be required to enter their driver’s license number, vehicle information (make, model, color, and year), and license plate number, and upload a copy of their valid Massachusetts driver’s license and vehicle registration.
Parking spaces reserved for students are located in the Student Parking Lot (see image). This is the same lot used last year. Access the lot by entering Hemlock Road near Wakefield High School and following the same route previously used to access the former Northeast building. The Student Parking Lot will be on your left, just past Landrigan Field.
All student vehicles parked on Northeast Metro Tech property must have a parking sticker properly displayed (affixed to the windshield above the inspection sticker on the passenger side). Detailed student parking information and expectations can be found by viewing this document.
|
The parking lot across from Landrigan Field (formerly J Lot) is exclusively for Wakefield Memorial High School students. Vehicles parked in this lot without a WMHS hanging placard are subject to towing per the Town of Wakefield.
In the Landrigan Field parking area, only marked spaces may be used. Parking in front of the field gate, within crosswalks, in marked fire lanes, or blocking entrances and exits are subject to ticketing or possible towing.
Parking on Hemlock Road, Farm Street, and surrounding neighborhood streets is allowed unless posted otherwise. Please be respectful by not blocking or partially blocking residential driveways.
All drivers are reminded to operate vehicles safely and remain under 15 mph while on school property.
