Northeast Metro Tech Physics Teacher Sarah Pierce Honored by Massachusetts Trial Court

WAKEFIELD — Superintendent David DiBarri is pleased to report that Northeast Metro Tech Physics Instructor Sarah Pierce was one of nine trailblazing women honored by the Massachusetts Trial Court in recognition of Women's History Month.
Instructor Pierce, who has been with Northeast Metro Tech for eight years, teaches physics and environmental sciences. She has also coached the varsity girls soccer team, the JV girls lacrosse team, and JV girls basketball, while advising the Student Council, National Honor Society, and National Technical Honor Society.
Instructor Pierce is also an active volunteer in her community, assisting at the Revere Food Pantry for years, and serving as the director of a youth group in Swampscott.
Instructor Pierce is currently working toward a second master's degree and is planning a wedding for September.
She was honored on Wednesday, March 26, during the Massachusetts Trial Court's 5th Annual Trial Court Women's History Month Celebration at the Edward Kennedy Institute in Boston. Pierce's family members, as well as Northeast Metro Tech colleagues and students, joined her as she was honored for inspiring women and uplifting her community.
"We can't have a beautiful world or a beautiful life if we don't make us all as beautiful as we can be," Pierce said. "So be as beautiful as you can be and bring as many people as you can for the ride. Because if everyone around you is beautiful, we will be living in a really beautiful world."
Other women who were honored were Dr. Alexandra Walker, Director of Community Relations and Strategy for the Alliance for Community and Justice Innovation; student leader Marli Forrester; Stacy Deveau, Assistant Chief Probation Officer, Boston Municipal Court-Central; Toni Wiley, Chief Executive Officer of the Sportsmen's Tennis & Enrichment Center; Cecely Reardon, Commissioner of the Department of Youth Services; Petrina Martin Cherry, Vice-President of Community Engagement and External Affairs, Boston Medical Center Health System; Amanda Fernandez, Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Latinos For Education; and Susan Church, Immigration Attorney and Chief Operating Officer for the Massachusetts Office for Refugees and Immigrants.
"Over the past eight years, Ms. Pierce has made an incredible impact at Northeast, coaching multiple sports, advising student clubs, and serving on key committees," said Superintendent DiBarri. "She has also created meaningful service opportunities for students, and has inspired our students to be as best as they can be. We are truly lucky to have empowering instructors like Ms. Pierce here at Northeast."
